Looks like an owl up there doesn’t it?

Can you remember any of your college or high school history or humanities professors?

I remember learning in a class that the reason for the huge architecture of ancient cathedrals was to give worshippers a larger than life feeling when they came to church.

Allegedly, the idea of the architecture was to create an awe inspiring, larger than the present experience which would endear the people that much more to the Church

There are probably still a few large cathedrals around, especially in Europe, but my fascination has transferred some of it’s magical allure to OLD churches right in my local community.

Here is the signboard. It says “established in 1836″:

Now you can see, there really wasn’t an owl up there. But due to the movement of the clouds and the height of the structure, I though the owl’s head was moving while I photographed it.

I kept thinking how strange it is that the owl was perched up there during the day.

Eventually, I was forced to accept that the owl wasn’t real. This was confirmed by a local barista who told me she actually goes to that church.

She said she isn’t actually Methodist at all. She was lured by the charm of the churches old roots, just as I was.

Then she told me about how the pastor said that lights would turn themselves back on after being turned off, the sounds of footsteps in empty hallways……

She thinks it is haunted. Which, of course, just adds to the charm of the place for her.

Haunted? hmmm… what do you think?
